Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 9, 2026
1. Introduction
Omnius ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it when you use the Omnius software and website.
2. Data We Collect
We collect minimal data necessary to operate the licensing system and provide support.
| Data | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|
| License key | Identify your license and plan | Duration of license |
| Machine fingerprint | Track deployment count per license | Until deployment deactivated |
| IP address | Logged during license validation and heartbeats | 90 days |
| Server version | Compatibility tracking | Duration of deployment |
| Email address | License ownership, support, and communication | Duration of license |
| Owner name | License identification | Duration of license |
3. How We Collect Data
License Validation System: When you deploy the Omnius server with a license key, the software automatically communicates with our license server (license.omnius.stream) to:
- Activate your license on the deployment
- Send periodic heartbeats (approximately every 6 hours)
- Validate license status on startup
This communication transmits your license key, a machine fingerprint (a hashed identifier unique to your server), your server's IP address, and the software version.
Purchase Process: When you purchase a license, we collect your email address and name to associate with your license key.
Website: The omnius.stream website is a static site and does not use cookies, analytics, or tracking scripts.
4. Machine Fingerprint
The machine fingerprint is generated locally on your server by hashing a randomly generated UUID (stored in data/.machine-id) combined with the server hostname. This produces an opaque identifier that:
- Cannot be used to identify you personally
- Cannot be reversed to reveal your server's hostname or configuration
- Is only used to count active deployments against your license limit
5. What We Do NOT Collect
We do not collect, access, or transmit:
- Your content catalog (movies, series, channels)
- Your users' data or viewing habits
- Database contents
- Admin panel credentials
- Network traffic or streaming data
- Any data from the client apps (Android TV, macOS)
6. Data Storage and Security
License data is stored in an encrypted SQLite database on our license server infrastructure. We implement reasonable security measures to protect your data, including:
- HTTPS encryption for all license server communications
- Hashed machine fingerprints (we never store raw identifiers)
- Access controls on server infrastructure
7. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or share your personal data with third parties. We may disclose data only if required by law or to protect our legal rights.
8. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data
- Deletion: Request deletion of your data (note: this will deactivate your license)
- Export: Request your data in a portable format
To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@omnius.stream.
9. Data Retention
- Active licenses: Data is retained for the duration of your license.
- Deactivated deployments: Deployment records are retained for 90 days after deactivation, then deleted.
- IP addresses in event logs: Retained for 90 days, then anonymized.
- Expired/revoked licenses: Core license records retained for 1 year for dispute resolution, then deleted.
10. Stale Deployment Cleanup
Deployments that have not sent a heartbeat in 24 hours are automatically marked as inactive. This frees up deployment slots on your license and removes the associated machine fingerprint from active tracking.
11. Demo Mode
If you run the Software without a license key (demo mode), no data is transmitted to our servers. The software operates entirely locally.
12. Children's Privacy
Omnius is a B2B software product. We do not knowingly collect data from individuals under the age of 18. Our service is intended for businesses and adult individuals deploying streaming infrastructure.
13. International Data
Our license server may process data in different jurisdictions. By using the Software, you consent to your data being transferred to and processed in the jurisdiction where our servers are located.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
